Therapeutic Counseling Services

Healing for the mind, body and soul

The purpose of this website is to offer insight into my personality and counseling philosophy. Through navigating this website, you will be able to decide if my theoretical orientation (CBT) is something that you think would work for you, and if you are interested in pursuing therapy. I have always believed that happiness is a choice and that we are in control of our own destinies. Each and every individual person is unique in the way that they interpret themselves and the way they see the world. In order to make sure you are living a life of value, and a life that you desire, it can be helpful to re-evaluate your vision and get the perspective of someone who is able to be objective - professional counselors can give you this unbiased opinion and I hope to assist you amidst your journey to being the best version of yourself.

What Is Counseling?

Has anyone ever told you that it’s okay to see a therapist?

Yes, it is okay to see a therapist. Read that again. In fact, 48% of Americans seek counseling and the stigma around mental health has decreased in recent years. Unfortunately, because of the stigma with mental health, many people seem to be ashamed to admit that they do in fact see a counselor/therapist. When our stomachs hurt, when we break our arms, or if we get sick, we go to the doctor to get medicine. With the brain as the most important organ in the body, it should be no different. When we are disequilibrated, we must do something in order to feel more centered or grounded. Counseling is a profession that focuses on making the human experience constructive, meaningful, and enjoyable, both on a preventive and a remedial level.

What Being a Therapist
Means to Me

I have always believed in and respected the capacity for change.

Within counseling, I strive to incorporate mind, body and spirit in order to help individuals live more fulfilled and wholehearted lives. As Emerson stated, to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make us someone else is the greatest accomplishment. In 2020, the societal pressures we live under are intense. Through my relationships with clients, I hope to help them learn to examine their thoughts, feelings, attitudes, values, and behaviors and are able to grow and change in positive ways. My practice is growth oriented and helps clients to overcome developmental hurdles.

Someone once told me that whatever I decided to do in my life and with my career, ensure that it creates value within the community. Over the years, that has always stuck with me. To me, nothing creates more value than evoking positive change within individuals that feel like they are stuck and can’t move forward.

My Approach

Theoretical Orientation

At Symmetry Counseling, the type of therapy that I utilize is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and talk therapy. CBT believes in the notion that our thoughts, feelings and behaviors all influence one another. Once this connection is made, it is easier for us to improve upon our lives.
